Council approves PY 2024 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report
At its regular meeting on Thursday, the Sierra Vista City Council approved the Program Year 2024 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER), which describes the program year’s activities for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects.
The primary purpose of the CAPER is to track progress in executing CDBG-funded projects. In accordance with CDBG regulations, the projects and accomplishments described in the CAPER principally benefited low- and moderate-income people and areas of the City.
With this approval, the report will now be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In other business:
- On behalf of Mayor Clea McCaa, Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn Umphrey proclaimed the week of Oct. 5 through Oct. 11, 2025, as Fire Prevention Week.
- The Economic Development Commission presented a Business Recognition Award to Luqa Barber Shop for earning Minority-Owned Business of the Year. More information can be found on the City’s website at SierraVistaAZ.gov.
- Council rescinded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Arizona Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education to support the Youth Council after federal funding cuts made the arrangement unsustainable. Then, Council approved an MOU with Cultivate Cochise to support the Youth Council instead.
- Council appointed Karen Jarvis to the Employee Benefit Trust and Joel Evans to the Commission on Disability Issues.
