The City periodically updates its building and fire codes to remain current with the latest editions of the International Code Council model codes and related standards. This resolution begins the public record period required before the City may adopt the proposed code amendments by ordinance.
Exhibit A updates the City’s adopted codes from the 2018 editions to the 2024 editions with local amendments tailored to Sierra Vista’s administrative structure, fee processes, enforcement procedures, and local conditions. The proposed amendments apply to Chapters 150 and 152 and include updates to the following model codes:
International Building Code (2024)
International Existing Building Code (2024)
International Residential Code (2024)
International Mechanical Code (2024)
International Plumbing Code (2024)
International Fuel Gas Code (2024)
International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (2024)
National Electrical Code (2023)
International Energy Conservation Code (2012)
Accessibility standard ANSI A117.1
Unlike amendments to the City’s Development Code, where the full text of an affected section can be reproduced with strike-through and underline formatting, the International Codes are copyrighted model codes published by the International Code Council (ICC). Accordingly, the City does not reproduce entire model-code sections solely for purposes of showing amendments. Instead, each local amendment identifies the specific modelcode section being modified and sets forth the language necessary to establish the City’s amendment.
Residents can review the proposed Building Code updates and offer feedback below through Sunday, Sept. 13.
