Every 10 years local residents are given an opportunity to shape the overarching plan that will guide Sierra Vista’s future growth and development. In 2024 the proposed Vista 2040 General Plan was not approved by local voters.
Per state law, this means the City continues to operate under the previous General Plan, Vista 2030, and must develop a new General Plan update to bring back to voters in November 2026.
So, we are once again asking residents to offer their input as we prepare to update the Vista 2040 General Plan. We want to know what caused residents to vote against the plan and also what aspects of the plan residents support. We appreciate the hundreds of residents who helped us form this plan and look forward to updating it to better align with our community's vision for the future.
